- All chute work is of mild steel construction with appropriate angle
iron, flat bar or channel stiffeners.
- Chutes are applied as sufficient width and steepness to flow the material.
- Chute construction standard design criteria are as follows:
- Chutes for finer materials are constructed of mild steel plate
no thinner than ¼”, with ¼” minimum thickness
of abrasion-resistant steel where necessary.
- Chutes for larger materials are constructed of mild steel plate
no thinner than 3/8”, with 1/4” minimum thickness of
abrasion-resistant steel where necessary.
- Lids and other non-structural items may be constructed of 11
ga. sheet metal to minimize lifting weight for handling.
- Chute construction may exceed the above guidelines based upon
engineer’s judgment. Chute construction of lesser thickness
than the above criteria will be considered upon customer’s
special request.
- Mild steel and/or liner thickness is generally increased in areas
of extreme impact.
- Alternative liner materials, such as stainless steel, UHMW, polyurethane,
rubber, ceramic, etc., will be applied as necessary and/or considered
upon customer special request and in special situations.
- Unless otherwise stated, volumetric capacities of hoppers and bins
are usually stated in struck capacity, based upon average material densities
and published repose and feed angles of the densest material to be handled.
