All work platforms on structures are generally constructed of bar grating or tread plate and of a minimum width of 30”. Stairways employ bar grate stair treads.
Handrails are standard pipe handrails and mid-rails with 4” minimum kickboard and uprights on 8’ maximum centers. Custom handrail configurations will be considered upon customer special request.
Access platforms are generally accessed via stairway, while catwalks are generally accessed via ladder (with safety cage, if necessary). A stairway or ladder usually originates from either grade or the closest lower access, which ever is more convenient.
